AI may discuss manpower issues at two-day board meet

Besides, the Board may also take up a proposal seeking appointment of global consultancy firm McKinsey & Co as an advisor to suggest ways to turnaround the national air-carrier, they said. The national air-carrier is aiming to rationalise its over 30,500 manpower to achieve industry benchmark along with utilisation of operating/technical crew as per domestic and international regulations. It has to cut down its wage bill by about Rs 300-350 crore, that is part of the turnaround plan so that they can get the equity infusion of Rs 800 crore. The Parliament had earlier last month approved the government"s proposal to extend Rs 800 crore to the ailing National Aviation Company of India (NACIL) which operates the troubled Maharaja.
