NEWSALERT: McDowell Holdings loss widens in Q1
McDowell Holdings Limited, an investment company which has investment in UB group companies, today reported a net loss of Rs 63.8 lakh for the first quarter ended June 30, 2009 compared to a net loss of Rs15.96 lakh, an increase of close to four times in the corresponding quarter last year. Its income from operations were flat at Rs 24.07 lakh for the period.

Markets marginally down

The Sensex is now at 17,664, down 23 points. Maruti Suzuki has dropped 2.6% to Rs 1,475. Hero Honda has declined 1.4% to Rs 1,692. IT stocks continue to trade weak. TCS and Wipro have shed 1.5% each to Rs 740 and Rs 694, respectively. Infosys is down 1.3% at Rs 2,586. Hindalco has slipped 1.7% to Rs 172. Other losers in the index include Reliance Infrastructure, Hero Honda, Jaiprakash Associates and BHEL. However, ICICI Bank has added 1.5% to Rs 901. NTPC and Tata Power are up 1% each. The market breadth is marginally positive. Around 643 stocks have advanced while 587 have declined on the NSE.
